Other Activities/Updates

Vail, Colorado — Simba Run — August 2015

Hiking, golfing, biking and just hanging out with friends. Contact Bob if you want to come out for a visit.

Back on RCCL after a few cruises on Oceania. Absolutely love Oceania, but with their price increases and RCCL’s 50% off second person, we can get a Grand Suite for thousands less than Concierge cabin on O. More than enough to eat in specialty restaurants every night if we like. We’ll just have to endure formal nights, art auctions, photographers, and announcements. Prices vary depending on Single/Double occupancy, economy, business or first class air, hotel/cabin choices, tour choices, and food budget. This itinerary also does 2 nights in St. Petersburg which allows more time for exploring that remarkable city. It also calls on Klaipeda. Lithuania, Tallinn, Helsinki, Visby, Sweden, Warnemünde, (Berlin), and Klaipeda. Lithuania. Contact Bob if you wish to join us or for more Information.

OK, it’s back to Oceania Marina a 14 day Trans-Atlantic cruise from Cape Town, South Africa to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Oceania had a great offer of free 3-night pre-cruise Winelands and Wildlife “Safari”, with gratuities, unlimited Internet, and $200 OBC included. To top it off, great single supplement which made the cruise irresistible. Contact Bob if you wish to join us or for more Information.

Cape Town, TATL Cruise, and Rio de JaneiroNov/Dec, 2015

London, Copenhagen, Baltic Cruise, and StockholmJune 2015

Vail, Colorado — Simba Run — January-April 2016

Living the dream, skiing in Vail. Contact Bob if you want to come out for a visit.

HawaiiVisiting Friends — October 2015

Visiting friends on Oahu.

As always, looking to the future for Around the World and/or Circle Pacific trip. Circle Pacific would be ex-HKG to take advantage of low OneWorld or Star Alliance fares or South Africa for the originating point with the lowest priced RTW tickets. One reason why I am not doing a real Safari on this year’s trip to South Africa. This would mean using miles or purchasing position flights to and from Hong Kong or South Africa. Originating in HKG or CPT/JNB results in 2 separate trips. The first one, flying to HKG or CPT/JNB, purchasing the CirPac/RTW ticket (requires 7 day advance purchase and must be purchased in HKG or CPT/JNB to get the lower price) then doing the first part of the CirPac/RTW trip and returning home. Then a few months later (you have 12 months to use the ticket) do your second trip. You could add a cruise, live aboard dive boat, or land based adventures to any of your stops. Contact Bob if you are interested.

Other Plans and Thoughts for 2017 and Beyond

Tauck ChinaSeptemebr 2015

My first adventure with Tauck will be to China this September. I am really looking forward to checking them out. My favorite Cathay Pacific first class to HKG and return from PEK. Best bang for airline miles in my opinion, 135,000 AA miles for round trip first class. The tour starts with 3 days in Hong Kong, the continues with 4 days in Shanghai, 5 days floating down the Yangtzi river on the Yangtzi Explorer, 3 days in Guilin, 3 days in Xi’an, and the final 4 days in Beijing.
